Our production attorneys collaborate with the brightest minds in the business in the counseling, contract development and production oversight aspects of our cutting edge productions in scripted and unscripted series, features, documentaries, animation, and kids and family programming.
The Opportunity:
Netflix has developed the Production Legal Lab, an entry-level training program designed to help attorneys transition to careers in production legal. Following the completion of the Lab, the Junior Counsel will be assigned to work with in-house production attorneys and paralegals on Netflix originals ranging from scripted and unscripted series to feature films.
The curriculum will include but not be limited to:
-Entertainment law basics, to build a solid foundation of knowledge in content distribution and intellectual property.
-The nuts and bolts of development, including drafting rights acquisition agreements, conducting chain of title analysis, and engaging writers and casting directors.
-Production 101, including drafting above-the-line and below-the-line agreements and providing thoughtful production oversight.
-Instruction and Q&A sessions with subject matter experts across a variety of disciplines, including creative development, finance, physical production, intellectual property, union and labor, music and technology.
Requirements
Candidates must:

-Be self-motivated, disciplined, highly organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks.
-Understand and align with our unique business culture.
-Possess strong written communication skills, with a passion for drafting language that is clear, precise, thoughtful, direct and refined.
-Exhibit strong analytical capabilities and judgment, even when the rules are unclear and the issues are of first impression.
-J.D., a minimum of three (3) years of experience as a practicing attorney and membership in good standing in at least one state bar.

-Acceptance to the Production Legal Lab will be on a rolling basis. Early application is strongly encouraged due to limited program capacity.

-Positions will primarily be based in Los Angeles; limited positions may be offered in New York.
-Relocation assistance will not be offered for these positions.
