We are seeking a Director of Domestic Tax, reporting to the VP of Global Tax that will be responsible for all aspects of domestic tax including tax provision, tax compliance and sales, use and property tax. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader who can collaborate across the business and has a hands-on mentality.
Responsibilities:
• Manage a team of 12 tax professionals
• Oversee preparation of quarterly tax provision calculations and projections of annual Effective Tax Rate (ETR)
• Manage preparation of US and state income tax returns including IRS forms 926, 1118, 5471, 5472, and 8858
• Oversee filing of sales & use and property tax filings throughout the US
• Manage the W-8BEN-E and 1042 process as well as driving process improvement and automation efforts
• Review business contracts and collaborate with Netflix's business leaders and legal to ensure contracts contain key terms that are consistent with global tax structure and to minimize potential tax risks to the company
• Partner with the Government Relations team to assist on policy matters related to significant US and state tax legislation
• Oversee IRS & state income, sales & use, property tax and unclaimed property audits
• Research complex tax issues and prepare technical documentation
Qualifications:
• 12 years of experience including public accounting or industry (ideally, technology or entertainment) experience
• CPA and / or Masters in Taxation preferred but not required
• Ability to quickly understand and integrate business objectives with tax strategies, and effectively communicate tax requirements to senior management
• Strong analytical capabilities and judgment
• Ability to work proactively and independently under tight time frames in a fast-paced environment
