THE OPPORTUNITY
With over 117 Million subscribers enjoying great content throughout the world, it's an exciting time to work at Netflix. Netflix seeks an experienced film and television finance attorney to help support our original content efforts. We continue to grow our vast original content slate globally, and this role is imperative to the success of this massive initiative. This is an opportunity to be part of a public company with a great consumer brand and to help Netflix shape the future of entertainment.
The successful candidate will work as part of the company's Corporate & Finance Team headquartered in Los Angeles to structure, negotiate and draft agreements with financiers, lenders, completion guarantors, producers and distributors. He or she will work closely with our content team (both business and legal), handle related intellectual property matters as they arise (e.g., copyright, chain-of-title analysis), and should be extremely comfortable making decisions that have both legal and business impacts.
REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of broad-based film and television finance experience, including direct experience structuring, negotiating and drafting credit and security agreements (and all related documents), distribution agreements, licensing agreements, negative pick-ups, domestic and foreign tax incentives and co-production arrangements, and possess practical knowledge of the industry (including content windowing strategies, and the evolving theatrical, VOD, pay TV, syndication and home video landscapes). A combination of law firm experience and experience providing in-house support preferred.
The successful candidate will also possess the following:
• Clear and concise communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical capabilities and judgment, even when the rules are unclear and the issues are of first impression.
• Ability to distill important points and frame and present issues succinctly.
• Ability to work proactively, independently and reliably under tight timeframes in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to pivot quickly and fluidly, think practically and be solution-oriented.
• Curiosity and willingness to tackle matters outside area of expertise.
• Ability to work effectively and collaborate cross-functionally with people having diverse viewpoints and interests.
