About the Content Design Team:
The Content Design team is responsible for developing testable strategic content which enables Netflix members around the world to effortlessly navigate and enjoy our product. The team is situated inside the Netflix eXperience Design team (XD) to enable priority, connection and direct influence into the development and testing of our user experiences.
The role of Design Manager on our team emphasises values more associated with Coaches than traditional Managers. They focus on providing context to stimulate collaboration, and are measured by how well they hire and develop teams rich in diverse perspectives, take educated risks, and incorporate data to formulate quality testable hypothesis.
Responsibilities
• If you're the ideal person for this role, then you have a proven track in:
• Organizational Management: You have hired, developed and coached small to medium sized teams, and are known for a management style which biases towards being selfless and inclusive.
• Great Partnerships: You can collaborate and build cross-functional relationships with our Product Design, Product Management, Consumer Insights and Engineers & Data Science teams
• Superhuman writing skills: You are known as a writing, editing and proofreading superhero, who biases towards teaching and sharing best demonstrated practices. (Writing samples would be requested.)
• User centered & data informed methodology: You have a portfolio which demonstrates their passion for creating amazing user experiences via thoughtful, user centered, data infused products releases. (International experience is a plus, and examples of shipped projects would be requested.)
• Penchant for simplicity: You are known for simplifying complex workflows in a way which respects members time, intellect and unique needs.
• Empathy: You believe in the power of words to help guide members and know that they're crucial to an experience. You also believe in never leaving anyone out with language, and strive for inclusivity. You always want people to feel like a product is for them.
• TV & Film superfan: You know what number Kali from ST2 was, can hum Kimmy's mantra, and knows what show Prairie Johnson is from, and can take either side on a debate if it was all in her head or not. (We're kidding… but you do need to love stories and storytelling.)
