JOB OVERVIEW
As part of the Brand Development Team, the Paralegal supports the EMEA Consumer Products merchandising and licensing Business & Legal Affairs team in helping to deliver responsive and high-quality drafting and legal support to internal business partners.
This role would suit an individual who has some experience working in a law firm or in-house legal department and is interested intellectual property licensing matters and would be comfortable working in a fast-pace in-house legal team with a high volume of contracts and legal documents. The ideal candidate will be a proactive team-player that is detail-oriented, organised, adaptable and shows a strong eagerness to learn. This role will directly report to a Legal Counsel, Business & Legal Affairs with the opportunity to work with other lawyers on the team as circumstances dictate.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Preparing draft license agreements, amendments and other legal documents from existing templates under the supervision of senior members of the team.
• Circulating agreements to all parties and acting as a first point of contact for any changes required.
• Filtering comments to facilitate answers to queries across internal departments.
• Preparing and circulating redlines based on changes required by the business.
• Maintaining an independent workload as well as supporting lawyers when required.
• General legal administrative duties, compiling signatures and maintaining filing systems and digital databases/e-signature systems.
• Drafting cover letters and correspondence.
• Maintaining and coordinating between the Legal team and business partners on workflow, tracking, and legal delivery of documentation.
• Assist with managing contract workflow with licensees, licensing agents and category teams.
• Conducting legal research as required.
• Additional duties and projects to work with senior members of the team as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS - ESSENTIAL

• Ability to know when to ask for assistance and guidance from more senior members of the team.
• An enthusiasm for the licensing business, entertainment industry and film in particular.
DESIRABLE
• Familiarity with intellectual property law or prior experience in consumer products licensing or exposure to entertainment/media contracts.
• Experience working within a commercial or intellectual property team of a law firm or in-house experience at a major studio, distributor, production company, broadcaster or similar company handling licensing matters.
