Full Time Paid Internship
Responsibilities
The Digital Journalism Internship Program is an opportunity for driven students to take their skill set to the next level. This is a rigorous program designed exclusively for students who already have a mastery of reporting, writing and AP style who are ready to learn more.
Daily responsibilities and projects may include (but are not limited to):
• Working with veteran digital journalists to write one or two stories a day, find sources, conduct interviews, compile research, build photo galleries, edit video and assist with social media and editorial planning
• News gathering responsibilities that include research, story development, writing and assignment desk news monitoring/gathering
• Research information to assist with investigations and source subjects for possible story development or interviews
• Organizing and editing videos, research for field crews, assisting in answering phones, gathering elements from users via social media, writing and editing news stories for broadcast, web and social media
Qualifications
/Requirements
• In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution and be able to provide documentation to confirm your degree progress.
• Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits)
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. without a visa or sponsorship
• Needs to be able to work on-site in Los Angeles
• Internships at NBCUniversal are paid and do not require course credit
• Deadline: Interested applicants are encouraged to apply by February 14th, 2020
• Summer Program Dates: June – August 2020
Desired Characteristics
• Desired Backgrounds: Journalism and Digital Journalism
• Strong written and oral communication skills, detail oriented, and team player
• Experience working with a campus newspaper and AP Style
• Previous internship experience or on-campus leadership
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish (writing and speaking)
