Part Time Paid Internship
Responsibilities
Do you want to work for one of the world's leading media and entertainment companies in the development, production, marketing of entertainment and news?
NBCUniversal are offering a number of 12 month internship opportunities from July 2020 in our Legal functions within NBCUniversal International. The legal intern's role is highly varied and provides the chance to engage with commercial and legal issues within the media and entertainment industry.
To join one of our 12-month Internships you will be studying or have no more than one year of experience post your graduating with a degree-level or equivalent course
You must also be eligible to work in the UK without restriction for the duration of the internship.
To ensure that you are considered for the placement that best fits your interest and skillset, we recommend that you apply to no more than 3 placements.
Qualifications
/Requirements
Legal Intern (UPHE Content Group)
This legal intern will work within Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, dealing with the acquisition, distribution and production of Film and TV content.
The role responsibilities will include:
• You will work with lawyers from the start of the deal where a title has been board approved, the signing of the deal, through to the completion of legal delivery.
• The role involves working closely with the Marketing, Operations, Content Strategy, Licensee and Finance teams, providing the opportunity to gain a strong insight into the wider business. You will communicate with members of the international business throughout Europe, Australasia, Asia and the US and strategic partners such as Sony and Paramount, confirming the rights positions of titles.
• The intern enters rights information into the database which requires the interpretation of signed agreements.
• The role also involves sourcing and drafting documentation essential for the content release and sharing it with the business.
• The legal intern's role is highly varied and provides the chance to engage with commercial and legal issues within the media and entertainment industry.
Legal Intern (Networks)
This legal intern will work within Global Distribution International function. The role responsibilities will include:
• Assisting with the management of the gifts and business entertainment system. This will include developing an understanding of applicable bribery and corruption laws (e.g. UK Bribery Act and the FCPA) as well as our company policies around the giving /receiving gifts and business entertainment to govt /non-govt officials.
• The intern would also assist with the on-boarding of new reps and the annual compliance refresh. This may include liaising with reps to schedule training sessions, keeping meeting minutes, circulating our code of conduct and uploading evidence of compliance to Exiger (our compliance monitoring system).
• Additionally, assisting with drafting of termination letters and other adhoc legal matters.
Legal litigation Intern (Corporate)
The legal litigation intern works within the NBCUniversal International corporate legal function which provides legal expertise across the NBCUniversal International business groups in the areas of; corporate transactions, litigation, data privacy, IP, company corporate and employment. You will work with lawyers on a broad range of matters in each of these specialist areas ranging from drafting and managing NDAs, goods and service agreements, waivers and release forms, assisting with board minutes to note taking at pre-litigation interviews, preparing court bundles and undertaking research. The role will bring you into contact with all areas of the NBCUniversal business from theatrical and production to content distribution and channels. It also provides an insight into the corporate functions of a studio business such as corporate communications, HR, finance and operations and technical services.
Legal Intellectual Property Intern (Corporate)
To support the prosecution and enforcement efforts of the UBD business and franchises. Specifically, this includes handling the takedowns of online counterfeit merchandise, handling customs seizures, conducting customs training and assisting with managing anti-counterfeiting and infringement activities around the world.
