Responsibilities
At Universal Studios Hollywood, we want to develop the best leaders and be known for it. The Manager of Talent Development serves as the Learning & Development expert providing impactful learning experiences and resources to build individual, team and leadership competence and confidence for non-exempt and exempt Team Members at USH. The role is a strategic partner who assists organizational effectiveness by identifying barriers/root causes to performance and provides/recommends and executes targeted learning and development solutions that address professional, managerial and leadership needs.
• Builds and maintains strong client, HR Business Partner, and subject matter expert relationships to gather ongoing needs assessment information and translate to learning curriculum content or appropriate intervention solution.
• Skilled in formal needs assessments and field research methodology to support professional and leadership training programs, including their onboarding experience.
• Facilitates USH BUILD workshops including scheduling, tracking, marketing, administration and evaluation.
• Manages, maintains and delivers key Talent programs such as ''DLT'' (HiPo Lead to Supervisor) and ''FOLO'' (New supervisors and managers) and supports the overall development of capability across the organization.
• Designs and customizes program materials; including facilitator guides, participant workbooks, presentations, and job aids.
• Incorporates ongoing evaluation information into class materials on a continuous improvement cycle.
• Researches and customizes new learning solutions, not limited to instructor-led, online learning, and on-the-job learning. Ensures training materials are updated, relevant and support current Standard Operating Procedures.
• Partners and supports leaders with special employee engagement, development and OD initiatives.
• Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety and compliance responsibilities by following established USH policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
Qualifications/Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree with with an emphasis in Organizational Development ; Leadership Development or Learning and Development preferred
• 5 years of experience in learning and development, ideally focused on manager or leader development
• Ability to translate strategy to action and drive accountability for progress to key milestones
• Proven track record of leading and developing others • • Ability to execute high-impact learning strategies that enhance people and business performance
• Results focused; a consultative leadership style that builds high-performing teams across multi-disciplined projects that consistently meet targets and realize organizational benefits.
• Ability to collaborate with HR Business Partners and line leaders internally
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and influencing skills and ability to facilitate across all levels of business.
• Skilled communicator through written reporting and verbal presentation
• Working knowledge of Adult Learning Theory and Instructional Methodologies.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook
Desired Characteristics
• Solution driven and flexible in his/her interpersonal style • Ability to collaborate across functions to ensure consistency of people-related processes
• Effective planning and management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Certification in Situational Leadership, Franklin Covey product and or working with behavioral assessments (DiSC, MBTI, etc)
• Prior experience with design, creation and implementation of computer-based training.
• Humble and curious with an ability to partner across multiple disciplines
