Full Time Unpaid Internship
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Global Programming & Scheduling Department oversees the programming and scheduling strategy for National Geographic Channel, Nat Geo WILD, Nat Geo Mundo and our non-linear platforms domestically and around the world . The Department is responsible for the creation and distribution of the schedule, as well as the long range planning and rollout of new series and specials. The Programming Department works closely with Marketing, Research, Communications, Development, Production and AdSales to help identify programming opportunities and shape the network strategy. This internship is an exciting opportunity to learn how program strategy drives the business and day to day operations of the channels.
The Programming intern will have a unique opportunity to learn and observe how the NGC and Wild programming teams create the schedule and interact with internal departments. It is our hope that the intern gains insight into the influential role that programming plays in both the short term and long term growth of the network. This internship provides an opportunity to work hands on with the team, and learn the in's and out's of programming!
Responsibilities:
• Work closely with the scheduling teams to help create and update internal scheduling documents that are used in strategic quarterly planning.
• Track competitive information across the TV landscape; Maintain competitive tracking documents to inform scheduling decisions
• Conduct department screenings, presenting content, insights and learnings from program strategies across the industry
• Oversee quality control listings checks and content availability to ensure the accuracy of our television program guide and offerings across multiple providers and platforms
• Participate in the series/episodic titling process
• Attend department meetings and special projects as needed.
Qualifications
While individuals of all academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply, applicants should have prior experience in research or journalism.
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to handle and prioritize simultaneous projects and meet deadlines
• Analytical and detail-oriented
• Self-motivated and resourceful
• Passion for TV industry
• Proficient in the use of MS Excel and PowerPoint
To participate in Fox's Internship program you must meet the following criteria:
• Applicants must be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited university and be sophomore status or above
• Be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship by the Company
• All students must provide their own housing and transportation for the duration of the internship
