JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Description Summary
The National Geographic Audience Team leads the growth and revenue strategy across all of NG Media's social media and digital platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok, podcasts and others. The team focuses on driving subscriptions to National Geographic; promotion of editorial and Disney + content; and executing sponsored brand campaigns.
The Producer, Audience Development is part of the integral team managing organic and paid social media strategies and campaigns across National Geographic's core global social media accounts. This role will help develop new audiences, drive growth and subscriber acquisition strategies, and collaborate with a diverse array of teams across the company, from editorial and marketing, to production and streaming content. In short, this role helps bring National Geographic's iconic storytelling to life across its social media presence with a combined audience of more than more than 500M. As the social landscape evolves, this role is integral in pushing the boundaries of social media storytelling and audience engagement on both existing and emerging social media platforms.
Responsibilities:
• Contribute to the social publishing and community management strategies for NatGeo accounts on current and emerging social platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Reddit, and TikTok.
• Measure performance using social and web analytics tools to track progress toward team goals and identify growth opportunities in social engagement, website traffic, subscriptions, etc.
• Assist in creative development and execution of social sponsorship campaigns running across brand accounts to generate revenue.
• Embed with one or more of National Geographic's editorial desks to provide input in brainstorming sessions, meetings, and processes from a social perspective, including headlines and photo selection.
• Monitor and report on social conversations to guide editorial and social engagement strategies and decisions.
• Take an active approach to interacting with our audiences across platforms and develop innovative community moderation strategies.
• Develop social media campaigns for editorial projects, podcasts, and National Geographic branded shows on streaming and linear channels that drive awareness, tune-in, and ultimately conversion.
• Identify opportunities for content creators to participate in live engagement activations such as livestreams, Q&As, Reddit AMAs, and Twitter chats and work closely with the talent to produce them.
• Communicate actionable insights and feedback to editorial, marketing, nonprofit, and sales teams to optimize the user experience on social.
• Maintain and comply with social media guidelines and act as an internal resource for industry trends and best practices.
Requirements:
• Minimum of 3 years of social media management experience in a news, digital publishing, or entertainment setting
• College degree preferred in journalism, communications, marketing, or related field
• Exceptional writing skills and ability to craft creative, clear, and engaging copy with the highest standards of accuracy
• Understanding of social media industry trends and the culture of established and emerging social platforms
• Strong news judgement and experience managing or working with a brand or news organization's social presence is preferred
• Organized and thrives in fast paced and dynamic team environments
