The Communications Specialist is responsible for handling public relations efforts including, media relations and stakeholder relations, for National Geographic content including National Geographic magazine, digital, Your Shot, photo contests, NG Image Collection and support for corporate initiatives.
Responsibilities:
• Plan and execute PR efforts for National Geographic magazine and digital content, including media relations, stakeholder engagement, and influencer outreach efforts. This includes developing promotional plans and pitching media weekly
• Develop promotional materials and other comprehensive documents, including press releases, talking points, briefing documents, and project reports
• Project manage communications campaigns and track activities across Editorial, Social, and other teams for larger initiatives
• Send regular updates to international communications partners on upcoming editorial and company initiatives. Facilitate with international partners on acquiring promotional assets for campaigns
• Staff talent and internal events, as needed
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree; 0-2 years of public relations experience
• English; Strong interpersonal, public and written communication skills
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects at once
• Microsoft Office, Cision, Muck Rack, Adobe Photoshop
• Strong writing and editing skills; Ability to work diplomatically and handle sensitive/confidential information
