The Social Media Specialist for Instagram and TikTok is responsible for the planning and execution of operations and strategy for multiple National Geographic Instagram and TikTok accounts within the Audience Development team. The role is responsible for the growth and monetization of five of the largest revenue-generating Instagram accounts across National Geographic and the new @NatGeo TikTok account.
This role works closely with cross-functional stakeholders, including photographers, copy-editors, marketing, comms, project managers, mobile/social producers, and desks to successfully streamline content distributed on the Instagram and TikTok platforms. Furthermore, this position is a supporting liaison between National Geographic photographers and the Audience Development team. She/he is developing and improving databases, managing content distribution, and working to increase traffic, engagement, and revenue from Instagram to ensure editorial and business goals/priorities are being met consistently and efficiently.
This position involves attendance in planning meetings and strategy sessions in order to create and execute on creative solutions to reach goals/objectives. The Social Media Specialist dissects analytics and content in order to develop a plan-of-action needed to align Instagram and TikTok with the rest of the social media and Audience Development team. The Producer will be responsible for scaling growth of National Geographic's Instagram and TikTok accounts, reviewing, formatting, and accurately posting content on the proper social media channels.
This role requires a pro-active, process-oriented, organized, candidate, with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments. He/she must be able to manage and communicate with various creative minds, personalities, and workflows, in order to identify inefficiencies and improve processes.
Responsibilities:
• Schedule and maintain all content across five of National Geographic's largest revenue-generating Instagram accounts and it's TikTok account.
• Manage all content calendars related to the Instagram and TikTok accounts, across editorial and branded-content, to ensure that all business units' content and plans are effectively and strategically executed.
• Maintain direct correspondence and community management with National Geographic's professional photography network.
• Collaborate with insights team and share best practices and key analytics metrics of content and campaigns; utilize data to inform current and future strategy based off of engagement and consumer interests.
• Support photography research, campaign development, and activation for TWDC-wide synergy priorities.
• Maintain awareness and present industry trends and competitor data, as they pertain to social platforms, and the broader media landscape.
• Ideate development and transformation of Instagram accounts as business priorities and focuses shift.
• Create and manage workflows and processes to ensure.
• Work closely and collaboratively with Mobile Storytelling team to assist in meeting their objectives in distributing content produced.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree, English (fluent).
• Minimum 4 years' experience as a coordinator or producer.
• Experience in social media, specifically Instagram and TikTok, a plus.
• A strong editorial background, and advanced visual eye.
• Ability to ideate around tentpole projects.
• Experience managing databases and deliverables.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; time-management is essential.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of Asana, API Schedulers, and Adobe Analytics a plus.
