Job Description
The ideal candidate is someone with previous management experience in broadcast and digital media sales and who understands how to build success in the ever-changing media environment. In this role, you will provide excellent leadership to the station's local and national sales efforts by giving direction, training, and feedback to the sales team. In addition, the GSM will be able to accurately forecast revenue, analyze trends and formulate effective pricing and inventory policy to meet and exceed all budgeted revenue goals. Proven success in building client relationships required. The successful hire will be able to maintain a high-functioning sales environment culture that embraces new technology and can creatively bring solutions to our clients utilizing a variety of platforms. Responsibilities
- Achieve station revenue goals by maximizing all available linear and digital platforms
- Tracks pending business of all prospective sales across all platforms
- Develop, and continually revise, the station's strategic sales plans
- The GSM is responsible for all linear and digital revenue goals and executing on those goals
- All areas of broadcast time and the resulting revenues under the GSM's supervision (including but not limited to local, regional, national sales)
- The GSM will assist station Account Executives in selling all available advertising platforms available to the station personnel
- Assist in implementing the company's advertising and marketing platforms to maximize growth and viewership share
- Ultimately responsible for achieving the station's pre-agreed to quarterly budgets as set by the GSM for all areas of sales
- Maximizing revenues with a focus on managing inventory and pricing
- Working with national reps and agencies to ensure success for the client
- Manage/oversee all client relationships and handle sales directly
- Concurrently have a book of business while overseeing all sales personnel
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years experience in selling media (bonus points for TV media)
- Proven track record in media sales prospecting - specifically TV - and the ability to close prospects
- Current good standing relationships with TV buyers at agencies
- College degree preferred, but not required (Local degree is a plus)
- Great time management skills- must be a self starter and self manager
- Highly proficient listener, negotiator, and presentation skills
- Highly proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
- Understanding TV station software including: WideOrbit, Nielsen, Strata, Scarborough and a plus
- Comfortable presenting to small and large groups of people
- Thrives with objections
- GOAT at pricing control, inventory maximization and strategic planning
