Vice President, Strategy Insights and Research, MTV VH1 CMT
The Vice President of Strategic Insights & Research will work closely with the Senior Vice President to handle research initiatives that provide information and insight to executive management and team across scheduling, marketing, press, original programming, acquisitions, and other key departments.
Responsibilities
• Act as a strategic advisor to network executive management team, effectively voicing fact-based insights and recommendations on issues relating to business goals and strategies.
• Work with partners to build an understanding of key business objectives, and translate those into a clear, actionable research strategy
• Perform interpretive analyses to transform data into valuable information. Effectively communicate findings through written and physical presentations.
• Monitor regular reporting of network and program performance (daily overnights, monthly network report, quarterly high-reaching reporting, etc.).
• Lead ongoing requests, helping team design projects, set deadlines and run internal expectations.
• Identify influencing industry changes and trends, and dedicatedly inform team in order to stay daring.
• Forecast future audience levels for the network and lead ad hoc revisions to the estimates; relate estimates to the business plan and aid in developing strategies to reach plan goals.
• Track and assess impact of marketing and promotional efforts and advise on media plans.
• Works closely with program and market research teams on various initiatives.
• Plays a senior role in the department, cultivating morale and creating a team environment.
• Works closely with primary research team on various initiatives.
Basic Qualifications
• Minimum 10 years experience in TV research, preferably 3 years in cable TV.
• Bachelor’s degree and strong computer skills required, including in-depth knowledge of spreadsheet and graphics packages (preferably Excel and PowerPoint).
Additional Qualifications
• Ability to work in a fast-paced high-pressure environment without sacrificing accuracy and attention to detail.
• Seasoned professional that can demonstrate leadership and team-building skills.
• Must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of Nielsen data and systems. Excellent analytical and mathematical abilities and knowledge of basic statistics required.
• Creative and strategic thinker with strong presentation skills and a passion for the business.
• Must have a shown ability to deal effectively with senior management and a thorough understanding of the TV industry.
• Excellent interpersonal skills both oral and written are a requirement; strong project management skills are also essential.
