Overview and Responsibilities
The MTV Programming team is seeking an enthusiastic and versatile new talent at the Manager/Senior Manager level for an exciting opportunity to shape the long-term planning efforts that will drive the continued growth of MTV, MTV2 & Logo. Reporting to the VP of Programming, the successful candidate will be a key contributor to the networks’ strategic efforts.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Works with VP of Programming to develop strategic recommendations and maintain supporting documentation for long-term strategy of MTV, MTV2 & Logo
• Synthesizes data from multiple sources – including research, finance, digital and social teams, sales and more – to ensure all stakeholders are represented in strategic planning process
• Supports VP & SVP in compiling decks and presentations (with emphasis on visual storytelling) for senior management
• Oversees creation and maintenance of internal competitive research initiatives
• Works with Acquisitions and Scheduling teams to identify, research and secure internal buy-in for third-party assets
• Supports network scheduling teams in ideation, development and execution of programming stunts
• Collaborates with research team to compile, analyze and interpret Nielsen data for ad hoc and recurring assignments
• Monitors sister-network schedules to identify counter-programming and cross-promotional opportunities
• Liaises with other in-house networks to identify, secure and deploy shared programming
• Tracks industry trends and identify challenges and opportunities posed by evolving landscape
Basic Qualifications
• 5-7 years of work in a television scheduling environment
• Bachelor’s Degree required, ideally in media/communication/journalism or business
• Strong proficiency with Nielsen Ratings and understanding of competitive media landscape
Additional Qualifications
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
• Team player and quick learner with the ability to prioritize workload
• PTS, other programming management database experience a plus
• Technical knowledge of Broadcast or Multiplatform Operations a plus
• Excel and Powerpoint wizard
