Assistant to Documentary Filmmaker
Production offices in Malibu, CA & Santa Monica, CA
Pay: Hourly
Hours: 10am-6pm, Monday - Friday
Employment Type: Full-Time
Description:
Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning documentary filmmaker to hire a personal/administrative assistant for Malibu and Santa Monica-based documentary production company.
Duties:
-Maintain a fast-paced calendar (schedule all meetings, phone conferences, appointments, etc.)
-Answer office phone (no call rolling required)
-Maintain contacts
-Organize and handle RSVP lists and email invitations for events and screenings
-Maintain office (print, scan, mail, etc.)
-Manage filmmaker's personal needs
-Build itineraries and book all travel and accommodations for the filmmaker
-Coordinate with film festivals, broadcasters and distributors
-Facilitate screening requests
-Handle the outreach/circulation of previously completed films
-Assist on the production of current film projects (schedule shoots and crew, work on deliverables, etc.)
-Troubleshoot computer, phone and internet issues
-Work on special projects as needed
Candidates must possess the following skills to be considered:
-Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask and prioritize efficiently
-Thrive in a fast-paced work environment
-Excellent communication skills (must be comfortable on the phone and sending emails to executives, VIPs, etc.)
-Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)
-Ability to navigate Google Drive and Gmail quickly
-Perform basic troubleshooting for Apple computers and iPhones
-Maintain a high level of discretion with all materials and interactions
Previous assistant experience required, production and/or post-production knowledge a plus. Public relations and social media knowledge a plus. The position is full-time starting first week of January 2020. Located in Santa Monica and Malibu. Must have a car.
