MOTOR TREND GROUP is seeking a full-time HR GENERALIST for the EL SEGUNDO, CA office.

Position Description
The HR Generalist (full-time, salaried, regular) is a dynamic, common sense professional who will be responsible for performing various duties across all HR functions while establishing and maintaining effective ''win-win'' working relationships with all employees. Essential duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Answer general HR questions and requests including but not limited to: time off including leave of absence, risk management, HR policy/procedure interpretation, performance management, recruitment, health insurance, etc.; escalating as necessary
- Administer, communicate, and support various HR programs, plans, and procedures for all employees
- Assist in the development and implementation of employee policy and procedures
- Respond, investigate, and make recommendations to resolve employee relation issues and escalating as necessary; providing counseling and supporting progressive discipline
- Respond, investigate, and make recommendations in employee performance management and escalating as necessary; providing counseling and corrective action
- Administer/Facilitate the company's leave of absence process
- Administer/Facilitate the company's worker's comp process
- Execute HRIS transactions (employee status changes) while maintaining data integrity and run ad hoc reports; audit and fix data inconsistencies as appropriate
- Manage and maintain employee leasing agency relations between the company and the vendor, and approve all job requests from managers before offers can be created and sent
- Create, review, and track performance evaluations
- Facilitate the creation of job descriptions with supervisors; verify FLSA exemption and EEO classification
- Increase the understanding of and maintain fair and consistent application of company policies, procedures, and practices through training, coaching, and communication
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements are met with regard to employee-related actions/practices to minimize exposure to liability
- Manage and track employee service awards
- Review and process unemployment claims
- File documents into relevant folders
- Serve as a backup for payroll processing
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration; emphasis in Human Resources Management is preferred
- Three to four years of similar, progressive human resources experience in a generalist capacity in an office environment
- Prior experience with HRIS; ADP Workforce Now is preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills; ability to analyze data
- Knowledge of federal and state employment law
- Knowledge of leave of absence process, procedure, and documentation
- Knowledge of worker's comp process and procedure
- Able to project plan and scope
- Able to support multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines; be solutions-orientation when problem solving and able to demonstrate a sense of urgency
- Able to multi-task and prioritize with efficiency
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality
- Able to maintain confidentiality when necessary
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Punctual, proactive, and able to take initiative; motivated self-starter
- Must be customer service driven
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
- Able to work independently and as a team, with and without supervision
Physical Requirements:
- This is a largely sedentary role requiring the ability to sit for prolonged period of time and view computer screen
- The ability to listen and speak with others
- Some standing, pushing, pulling, stooping, reaching, pulling, moving, carrying approximately 10 pounds as necessary
- Little to no travel is expected for this position
- Working occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand
