Freelance Movie Trailer Editor
About the Job:
Global feature film distribution and sales company based in Burbank, CA is seeking a freelance Editor to be responsible for the ideation and execution of video marketing assets for the companies slate of feature films. The position will be remote/work-from-home and contracted/part-time/as-needed.
As contracted, the Editor will be responsible for the collaborative creative input with guidance from executives and editing of 90 to 120 second trailers to feature length films. Additional potential freelance edit contracts could also include editorial on 30 second teasers, theatrical length trailers, EPK, and behind-the-scenes vignettes, sales reels, co-branded vignettes, etc.
The job will include watching each film, come up with 2-3 very different scripts/paper edits/visions for review, provide 3-4 music options for discussion and then lead the chosen vision through execution to final delivery.
All editorial will be remote/work from home. Editor may work at their own hours so long as the job is done in 2-4 weeks. Deadline length within that timeframe may vary depending on project, scope and scale.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide marketing creative from ideation through delivery
Develop and deliver concepts, and/or paper edits for every project
Select and present music options for every project (if different from soundtrack of film)
Eagerness to find inventive solutions and set new trends in film marketing
Understanding of story and structure as it relates to multiple different genres
Creative direction and execution for all graphics, title cards, and motion graphics, etc. (Ability to create and execute basic GFX a plus.)
Work Experience Requirements
Minimum of 2 years in editing in the entertainment industry
Must have some experience in trailer edit and be able to share examples of previous trailer work and/or editorial reel. Emphasis on examples of trailer work.
Compensation
Job will be as a contractor, paid as 1099. Rate to be discussed.
Education
Bachelor's Degree OR equivalent work experience
