MKG is looking for a Digital Production Designer to join our team on a contract basis. This designer will be dedicated to one of our key clients. They should have proven professional experience working tightly within brand guidelines and executing final digital files. We are looking for a candidate with a strong mix of design and technical skills, exceptional organization and communication, and meticulous attention to detail.
MKG has offices in NYC and LA. Candidates are expected to live within commuting distance of either office and be present for collaborative, in-person work on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
This is a contract position for a duration of 6 months, with potential to extend or join our team full time.
SAMPLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work in tandem with our internal Account team as well as our clients to understand requests and make plans for execution and delivery of design files
- Collaborate closely with account managers, video editors, developers and other designers
- Develop a deep understanding of our client's brand guidelines or brand campaigns and be diligent in following them in the creation of related assets
- Correspond directly with clients
- Understand and implement digital file requirements / specifications for optimized quality (resolutions, color and size accuracies, CMYK vs. RGB, a vector or raster, material selections, responsive design, etc)
- Lay out simple web and mobile pages and other digital communication assets such as emails, social posts and ads
- Lay out graphic storyboards and prepare assets to hand over to editors for video creation
- Create any assets and collateral related to virtual events such as lower thirds and speaker backgrounds
- Create simple icons or infographics
- Use creative / design thinking and problem solving to make decisions and troubleshoot issues
- Resolve any artwork issues that arise during production and check all provided assets to ensure nothing is missing and all are at the quality required
- Provide image retouching, clipping paths and additional image manipulation as needed
- Create presentation decks for client review and approvals
- Bring a strong point of view and suggest edits where work could be stronger
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL…
- Possess strong typographic and layout skills
- Demonstrate strict attention to detail and precision, with a keen eye for typos or other potential quality issues
- Remain highly organized throughout all phases of a project
- Be an extremely effective communicator-across verbal, written, and active listening
- Have excellent project management skills-tracking and communicating deadlines and anything needed to meet them
- Show stellar time management and follow-through
- Remain poised and highly efficient while juggling multiple projects and requests
- Be authentically themselves, have a point of view and communicate their ideas, while bringing a fresh perspective to our team
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- 3+ years (minimum) professional experience as a Production Designer or Graphic Designer
- Strong portfolio of design and technical work across
- Digital experience required, additional print experience a huge plus!
REQUIRED PROGRAMS/KNOWLEDGE:
- Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign at minimum)
- Proficiency in at least a few UX/UI or web platforms such as Sketch, Figma, Invision, Adobe XD, Webflow, Splash, etc
- Basic knowledge of HTML
- Experience using Google Docs/Slides/Spreadsheets or similar applications for project organization
- Basic motion graphic / animation knowledge is a plus!
