Position Summary:
This position serves all aspects of the Twins communications department as well as assisting with player needs throughout the season. The role will have a strong focus on assisting media and Spanish-speaking Twins players, as well as assisting in baseball information and research. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: working with Spanish-speaking Twins players to coordinate and arrange media requests and fulfillment, seeking media opportunities, providing Spanish/English language translation and interpretation, assisting other communications staff with game day functions and offseason responsibilities, as well as with various communications department initiatives. This position will also travel as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in all aspects of communications - baseball communications, business communications, baseball information, player (and family) relations, publications, marketing, club archives and media servicing.
• Promote Twins Spanish-speaking players to the international, national, and local media. Work with the department to fulfill media requests and follow through on fulfillment of interviews, appearances, etc.
• Work to ensure timely distribution of key baseball information, publications, including the team's media guide, season summary and baseball related press releases and daily game notes.
• Coordinate all Spanish themed marketing, corporate and community-driven player appearances, including autograph signing, meet-and-greets, brand marketing initiatives and player focused ballpark elements.
• Provide a counsel to Twins Spanish-speaking player related to the media and public relations opportunities.
• Serve as a Spanish/English translator for the media, both pregame and postgame (as requested), for all Twins Spanish-speaking players.
• Assist in Spanish social and digital media efforts for the Minnesota Twins (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
• Lead all translating and interpreting needs on Twins business related social media messages, community initiatives and media relations opportunities.
• During the season, work with the Communications department to prepare for each game, including game notes, statistical research, press box operations, etc.
• Translate scripts for the Broadcast department with regards to corporate sponsor needs.
• Provide training to players and staff on learning (speaking and writing) English or Spanish.
• Expected to be a resource to Spanish-speaking player families in relation to translation/communications.
• Work with Broadcast partners on player interviews (both home and road as well as other Spanish broadcast needs).
• Assist in the shaping of the brand, image and overall awareness of the Twins through the development and execution of the team's overall communications and marketing strategy, with emphasis on media service and player relations.
• Work with staff on special projects when assigned. Translate memos, letters and reports from English to Spanish when needed.
• Provide Senior Director, Team Travel with assistance on translation needs regarding travel logistics, benefits, rules of employment, etc.
• Work with the Communications department with offseason functions such as TwinsFest, Winter Caravan, media luncheon, and awards banquets. Help communicate and ensure Twins Spanish-speaking players are informed, present and prepared at such events.
• Special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
, Skills, and Abilities:
• The individual must be fluent in Spanish and have excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish.
• College degree, preferably with a major in Communications, Journalism, or Sports Administration.
• The individual must have professional experience in Spanish/English translation and interpretation.
• Baseball knowledge and understanding of the game.
• 1-2 years of Media Relations experience with a professional sports team.
• Highly motivated individual to meet the challenges presented in baseball information/communications department.
• Excellent verbal communication skills, computer skills, organizational skills and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work long hours, especially during the baseball season (February - October).
• Comfortable on TV and speaking in front of large crowds.
• Ability to travel during Spring Training (Florida) schedule and as needed throughout the off season.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop).
