Job Title: Help Desk Support Specialist
Department: Information Technology

Position Summary/Objective: This position is responsible for providing IT support to all Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx staff. Primary responsibility is the support of end users.
Essential Functions:
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform these essential functions:
1. Provide help desk support for end users.
2. Provide technical assistance and support for incoming issues and requests related to computer systems (Windows and Mac), software, hardware, telephony, broadcast technology (theater equipment, video setup and usage, audio).
3. Respond in a timely manner to customer inquiries for help through problem recognition, research, isolation, resolution, and follow-up steps.
4. Respond to help desk tickets, telephone calls, e-mail, and personnel requests for technical support.
5. Document, track, and monitor problems to ensure a timely resolution.
6. Responsible for setting up temporary networks and other technology for NBA games.
7. Assist with various hardware and software upgrades.
8. Set up new users with logins, e-mail accounts, and phone extensions with voicemail.
9. Coordinate user access levels via Active Directory.
10. Help manage distribution lists, users, and emails in an Exchange Server environment.
11. Documenting phone and workstation changes of end users.
12. Rewiring of existing network and phone closets.
13. Responsible for maintaining asset tracking of hardware and software.
14. Creating and updating documentation and guides for end users.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other:
1. Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
2. Computer skills required: Working with browsers (IE, Chrome, and Firefox), experience with Microsoft Office Products 2010, 2013, 2016, and/or Office 365.
3. Experience with Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 is required.
4. Experience with Mac operating systems is preferred.
5. Experience with Windows Server 2008 and/or 2012 is preferred.
6. Able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays.
7. Ability to work well on a team and independently.
8. Ability to manage specific processes and tasks in the department under supervision.
Experience: Experience and knowledge of networking, PCs, Macs, servers and telephony technology is strongly preferred.
Education:
Pursuit of, or recipient of degree in Networking, Information Technology or related field; or equivalent combination of experience and education is strongly preferred.
Supervisory Responsibility, if any: This position does not have supervisory responsibility
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. In addition to working office hours staff may be required to work Timberwolves and Lynx home games as well as external events including but not limited to: charity and networking events. Work is generally sedentary in nature, and the working environment is favorable. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available. This job also operates in a sports arena, which includes bleachers/steps as well as moderate to high levels of noise.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and exchange information with others both in person and over the telephone. The employee frequently is required to remain in a stationary position as well as operate computers and other office equipment, such as a copy machine, printer and telephone. Staff will frequently ascend and descend bleachers/steps and traverse around the arena both on event days and non-event days as well as crawling under desks and bleachers. There may be lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as printers, voice/data, and peripheral equipment, as well as inspecting structured cabling in floors or ceilings. Dexterity of hands and fingers is required to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other communications/computer components.
Travel
Position will not likely require travel.
