Summary:
The Network Engineer is responsible for the day to day support of all WESC Arena venue, office, and partner network infrastructure. The Network Engineer shall work under the guidance of a Senior Network Engineer and 3rd party subject matter experts and will help implement plans for the installation, configuration, and tuning of all network infrastructure. The Network Engineer also performs a wide variety of technical duties which include, but are not limited to installation, modification, documentation, maintenance, problem diagnosis, root cause analysis, and repair of all network hardware and software. This position will focus on Layer 2 and wireless networking.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
• Configure, implement, troubleshoot, and maintain various network security, WAN, LAN, IPTV and wireless infrastructure devices in the venue using industry best practices.
• Assist and support other team members in resolving any operation issues that impact clients.
• Work with various 3rd parties to facilitate, manage, and execute any special event OT/IT requirements.
• Monitor network device via logs and other tools to mitigate and trend potential issue or threat.
• Track and document network changes with proper Visio diagrams and spreadsheets.
• Participation in root cause analysis and post mortem processes with various OT/IT groups and 3rd parties.
• Participate in an on-call rotation, work off-hours, work extended hours and participate in a 24/7 on-call schedule as directed.
Qualification Requirements:
• A minimum education of Associate's Degree and/or Technical Certification. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Certifications: Networking and/or Cyber-security Certifications Preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years related work experience.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco Nexus switches, Cisco ASRs, Cisco ISRs or similar infrastructure.
• Network management and ''ground up'' troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with LAN protocols/service including Ethernet, TCP/IP, STP, VTP, VLANs, multicasting, etc.
• Experience with WAN architectures including BGP, OSPF, HSRP, VRF, etc.
• Experience with Network Security devices and best practices.
• Experience with wireless 802.11.
• Experience with Voice over IP.
• Excellent time management skills and planning skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including network documentation with MS Visio.
• Strong cognitive understanding and development of policy and repeatable procedures.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions such as heat, cold, dust, and wind.
• Possess the ability to rack, stack, lift IT equipment up to 50 pounds.
