Position Description:
The Private Events Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing the booking of corporate and social events at the Wisconsin Entertainment and Sports Center. These events will largely be non-game days, but will have the ability to sell some game day spaces depending on timing of event. Revenue goals will be achieved by cold calling and researching new events to utilize available areas in the Wisconsin Entertainment and Sports Center and relocating existing events in-market to take place at the new arena. The Private Events Sales Manager will be charged with building the private events book of business, setting up the sales process, and implementing a successful sales campaign to achieve revenue goals. Collaboration with the Private Events Operations team will be essential to ensure successful implementation.
Ideally, this person has a strong working knowledge of the private event sales business, experience in working with hospitality industry, event planners, and direct corporate level decision makers. This person must have the ability to multi-task both in the office and at events. With the opening of the new arena, expectations for private event sales and service are high, which means that we will rely heavily on this role to be a leader in developing new relationships and to be a high revenue generator.
Major Responsibilities:
• Develop strategies and business plans to maximize event sales
• Educate and train other sales reps on event details, products, and pricing
• Plan, execute and manage phone, email and mail campaigns for the entire sales team
• Prospect and cold call new business via networking, previous contacts, trade, publications, and date base companies.
• Meet or exceed annual sales goals
• Conduct market research for new leads, and opportunities to enhance private event experiences
• Implement and demonstrate outbound sales efforts by using sales and service best practices, prospecting, networking, lead generation, data capture and personal database management
• Build strong relationships and gain a deeper level of knowledge about potential customers, and the industry
• Perform event-day responsibilities, including entertaining clients and fulfilling large group events and commitments.
• Provide weekly reports on sales activity, expenses, and pacing for sales goals
• Attend team and community events for purpose of maximizing sales opportunities
• Proactively create opportunities for new business with existing customers
• Work collaboratively with other internal departments including premium sales staff and sponsorship services for revenue opportunities with current clients
• Work collaboratively with other internal departments including marketing and arena operations in order to maximize the utility of all facilities under management, per master calendar of events

• Strong knowledge of corporate and social event industry; local (Wisconsin/Northern Illinois) knowledge and contacts a must,

• Excellent oral and written communication as well as customer service and problem solving skills
• Proven ability to initiate high-level contracts of perspective customers with strong persuasion and negotiation skills to close sales
• Creativity to develop a successful and unique sales process by understanding the landscape of the industry
• The ability to learn software programs including the CRM platform is essential
• Must have the ability to navigate the arena in order to visit clients and escort potential customers on seat tours and fan experiences both on event days and non-event days
• Lifting of 25lbs or more may be required
• Must be available to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays
• Polished presentation skills with the ability to confidently react to situations in a timely and professional manner
Education and Experience:
• A minimum of four years of successful corporate sales, and/or private events sales or marketing experience, with evidence of solid business understanding of how to close business and manage sales process.
• Four-year college degree
• Entrepreneurial mindset and attitude preferred
• Proficient computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
