Full Time Job
This position is to assist the Landscape Manager in the planning and execution of all landscape assignments, while supervising landscape staff in work methods and procedures associated with the outside landscape. This is a very hands on, labor intensive position which provides consistency for the landscape staff and the Grounds Department collectively throughout the entire year.

In Season Duties and Responsibilities
• Lead PT landscape staff in daily assignments, providing knowledgeable direction and supervision
• Weed/Insect/Disease identification, to ensure plant health and a pleasant environment for park goers, through quality calibration and accurate application of control methods
• Assist with the management of the Miller Park landscape along with the implementation of planting projects, routine mowing, edging, line trimming, pruning of trees/shrubs, and daily trash clean-up within all landscaped areas
• Safely operate all equipment and instruct others on proper operation of landscape equipment
• Control, monitor and repair irrigation system as necessary for efficient and effective water usage
• Assist with extra events pertaining to the Miller Park field, Helfaer and surrounding landscape
Off Season Duties and Responsibilities
• Perform routine landscape maintenance including perennial cut backs, installation of seasonal floral arrangements throughout Miller Park, leaves/trash collection and disposal, along with the removal of invasive plant species during the fall and winter
• Execute snow removal procedures at a high level of detail including plowing, sweeping, shoveling and proper salt application to all sidewalks, parking lots and roadways
• Perform routine maintenance on small engines and power equipment along with maintaining a clean and safe shop/work area throughout the year
• Fulfills day/night/weekend/holiday on-call snow shifts starting in November, persisting through March
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• Full-time availability to work any scheduled Grounds shifts 11 months per year
• Must have a valid driver's license
• Knowledge of local vegetation allowing for distinction of desirable and non-desirable plants
• Wisconsin Pesticide Applicators license or ability to obtain within 4 months of hiring
Education
and/or Experience
Preferred candidates would possess an Associates or Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Landscape Management, Ornamental Horticulture or related college program; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situatioons.

Work Hours
Business hours are Monday – Friday 9 am – 5pm, however, additional hours may be required on weekends, evenings and some holidays.
