Part Time Paid Internship
Summary
This position supports the Community Relations Department. Responsibilities include assisting in the coordination and implementation of community relations. This position will provide an opportunity to gain experience in advertising, fundraising, internal communication, community relations, event planning, social responsibility, and more. You'll enjoy a competitive, fast-paced and friendly work environment.
The internship program is a yearlong program and begins in January. This is a paid internship and intern will have the opportunity to receive college credits for the completion of this internship.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Other duties may be assigned.
• Assist with the preparation and execution of Community Relations projects and programs
• Compile materials to be typed, following written or verbal instructions
• Fulfill, package and ship donation requests
• Open, read and distribute incoming mail
• Screen incoming calls and respond, as necessary
• Make phone calls to various organizations
• Maintain and input donations from the department's online donation program
• Keep inventory of donation items
• Write the internal monthly Beyond the Diamond community outreach newsletter
• Assist with cultivation of community outreach activities, special events and programs
• Assist with game day experiences, as needed (first pitches, pre-game presentations, etc.
• Family Room assistance, as needed
• Assist with communication, tracking, and execution of initiatives and community events
• Assist in the coordination of volunteer events
• Provide other administrative support to Community Relations staff, as needed
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Proven ability to relate well with individuals of diverse backgrounds
• Ability to work a minimum of 3-4 days per week plus home games (as needed); average of 20 hours per week (more during home games, as needed)
• Responsibilities may require working on some evenings and weekends.
• Requires travels from the premises to community-based organizations. Mileage costs reimbursed.
Education
and/or Experience
Candidates must be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university pursuing a Business Administration, Communications, Sports Marketing/Administration degree or course work related to Community Relations functions.
Computer Skills
To perform the job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Work Hours
Business hours are Monday – Friday 9 am – 5pm, however, schedule will depend on event schedule. Additional availability may be required on weekends, evenings and some holidays.
