Community Affairs Intern- (Season Long)
Description of the Internship: The HEAT Group is looking for a Community Affairs Intern from August/September 2018 – May 2019. Essential job functions include but are not limited to:
- Assist in the coordination and execution of all community affairs events & programs including, but not limited to NBA Cares, Holiday programs, Hispanic Heritage Month, HEAT Academy, Black History Month, and HEAT Youth Basketball Clinics.
- Fully responsible for the scheduling and fulfillment of the Honorary Ball Kid program as well as communicating with each participating family for their selected HEAT game.
- Inputting data related to monthly attendance reports and quarterly GPA history for students and schools in the HEAT Academy program from September through May.
- Responsible for writing Community Affairs event recap pieces for HEAT.com.
- Assisting in scheduling workshops and catering needs for the HEAT School-to-Work mentoring program.
- Responsible for sorting, handling, and fulfillment of all incoming requests to the Community Affairs department and fan mail to the Basketball Operations department.
Duties also include general office duties such as data entry, answering phones as well as follow-up request calls, copying, filing, faxing, and maintaining mailing lists and donation requests. Will perform other duties as required.
Must be at least an Undergraduate Junior or Senior; preferably a Graduate student. Must be available to work most HEAT home games. Ability to work some nights and select weekend events preferred. General office duties required; Event planning and project management experience preferred.Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to meet deadlines and balance multiple tasks. Microsoft Office required. Heavy lifting will be required at times. Spanish a plus. Must be attending school for the duration of the internship.
