OVERVIEW OF ROLE:
The Vice President of Operations will oversee all technical operations for both linear broadcast and multi-platform VOD delivery for all of the EPIX channels and VOD offerings.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Set workflow processes for the delivery of assets to the on-air origination group and VOD file prep and delivery organization as well as third party vendors from QC to air and VOD distribution
• Direct operations team for maximum efficiency and accuracy dividing the workload to ensure dedicated coverage for each and all of our distribution partners
• Develop and service tech spec requirements and file type/size deliveries for both the broadcast and VOD materials for the network and external partners
• Oversee routing and tracking of file/asset deliveries for both incoming and outgoing including video, close captioning, artwork, metadata, Spanish language tracks, etc.
• Responsible for all technical spending including setting financial projections and managing budgets
• Service all original production deliveries including alternate versions and any necessary redeliveries providing tech spec and delivery routing information
• Facilitate affiliate launches and digital distribution partner onboarding
• Research and analyzes operational discrepancies and expedites resolutions
• Serve as the main contact for all origination issues finding technical solutions and efficiencies
• Work with the internal asset management team to ensure that our video library is well maintained and performing at the necessary level of efficiency
• Train and mentor operations staff to understand our technical needs and processes
SKILL REQUIREMENTS, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
• Bachelor's Degree
• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in television operations
• Entrepreneurial self-starter able to work well in a fast-paced environment
• Fluent in file prep and package processes
• Expert knowledge of video file formats/specs, transcoding, broadcast and VOD operations
• Experience with MAM systems, media storage and transport
• Highly proficient computer skills; Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, data-bases, e-mail, etc.
• Extremely detail oriented with the ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects at once
• Must be able to communicate and interact well with internal and external constituencies
