Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. ("MGM") is seeking an experienced Director for our Physical Production, Unscripted TV department who will manage the day to day operations. The successful candidate will be proactive, quick-thinking, flexible, and be able to juggle multiple responsibilities. Both stage and field show experience are required.
Responsibilities:
• Work closely with the creative team, ensuring the best possible production process with all parties
• Work with Showrunners, EICs and Line Producers to help prepare and vet show budgets and schedules, providing feedback on viability and risks
• Work with the development team managing internal sizzles and pilots
• Collaborate with internal and external teams to lock budget
• Help ensure that productions run smoothly, meet deadlines and stay within budget
• Inform and draft production schedule
• Collaborate with internal teams (including Post, Content Ops) & external production team to lock schedule
• Troubleshoot and communicate all changes to schedule to internal and external teams
• Lead or assist with search and hire of key production staff
Requirements:
• BA/BS Degree; over 7 years of experience in Physical Production for Unscripted TV
• A strong understanding of the television production process and working familiarity with the various entertainment guilds and unions for film and TV including without limitation SAG-AFTRA, DGA, WGA and IATSE
• Team-player who operates in a fast-paced team-oriented setting
• Ability to be discrete and maintain confidential information
• Understanding of how to prioritize and respond accordingly
• Comfortable with periodic travel
• Willingness to continue learning to ensure understanding of current production process and gear
• International production experience a plus, but not required
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Movie Magic Budgeting, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides and Google Mail
