Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. ("MGM") is seeking a Director of Domestic Distribution and Contract Services to supervise the Domestic Administration team in all aspects of deal management support for sales, as well as various clients and contracts for the media of Pay TV, SVOD, VOD, PPV, Free TV, FVOD, Basic Cable, and EST/DTO.
Worldwide Distribution Services (WWDS) identifies and manages product availability, shares strategies for maximized sales / revenue exploitation opportunities, and maintains internal systems tracking all sales and deal terms. The department creates availability lists, clears product, and reviews all incoming deal memos and change orders on a timely basis. WWDS determines the qualifiers of new product for inclusion in worldwide output agreements, coordinates with clients to identify product to fulfil library volume commitments, sends notifications to clients, and provides assistance on various inquiries. The group also prepares and issues a variety of scheduled reports and responds to ad hoc inquiries from internal departments.
Responsibilities:
The Director will maintain and monitor individual package and output deals in the United States and Canada in the following areas:
• Window management for current and library features, acquisition product, and TV series, including monitoring of product availability release dates
• Properly manages product license windows and holdbacks that flow through the sequence of media
• Window out the approximate initial Pay TV, SVOD and Free TV/Basic Cable avail dates based on trigger dates & output window lengths
• Confirm dates once preceding windows and trigger dates are locked
• Interact with Sales, Finance, Planning, Business Affairs, Servicing and Acquisitions for advisement of potential deals to clear product and analyze deal term sheets
• Provide departmental feedback for pending deals
• Generate sales and availability reports based on specific territory, media, and client requirements
• Communicate with clients regarding upcoming contractual notifications for output deals
• Maintain output deal specific sequentials, trackers, and alerting calendars
• Create and maintain deal specific contract abstract summaries of the deals
• Review and summarize deal specific points for relevant information such as rate cards, term, product type, etc.
• Develop and maintain proficiency in proprietary and non-proprietary systems, such as advanced Word and Excel functions / add-ons, SAP/IPM, STARS, and MicroStrategy
• Proactively interact with systems at a high proficiency level, as well as suggest enhancements, improvements, and modifications
• Supervise Domestic Coordinator and Manager in association with the Executive Director
• Manage domestic step-up, dipping pool title, and film sales deals to ensure product, cash, and revenue are properly recognized and windowed
• Input data, new deals, and revisions into the IPM database management system (i.e. contract entry/administration, event processing, and client maintenance)
• Proof the system deal and revision entry of the junior level staff
• Manage deals in association with sales on new title selections for existing output deals, title substitutions, re-clearance or withdrawing of titles due to rights updates
• Oversee direct communication with client on notification of dates and other contractually required terms
• Run reports to capture outstanding items, such as TBA dates and titles in database while working with sales and clients to resolve pending items
• Review and process internal notification of dates and data from certain external websites
• Maintain calendaring database to ensure all contractual requirements are not missed, such as no later than dates and notification deadlines
• Liaise between servicing, contracts, and financial groups to ensure all contractual obligations have been fulfilled
• Update internal departmental spreadsheets, including deal / revision tracker and others
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree required
• 5 years of related experience working in sales/contract administration or related field
• Work experience in television or a related media capacity as a Senior Manager or Director
• Understand and apply concepts of window management, contract administration, sales planning, etc.
• Ability to interpret contracts and license terms for product sales
• Strong Microsoft Office and software application skills
