Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. is seeking an attorney to join its Library Rights Management Department. The successful candidate will negotiate and draft a variety of agreements and corresponding documents related to the MGM Library, oversee various departmental projects, and provide legal research and chain of title summaries, as necessary or requested.
Responsibilities:
• Negotiate and draft a variety of distribution-related agreements and corresponding documents, including distribution, acquisition and extension agreements.
• Investigate distribution rights disputes which may arise and correspond with outside parties with whom disputes arise.
• Oversee a variety of departmental projects and corresponding meetings.
• Review and summarize chain of title for new and older film and television properties.
• Research, summarize and advise on various legal issues, as necessary and/or as requested.
• Establish strong working relationships, credibility and trust within the Company and provide proactive, high quality and timely guidance on a variety of legal distribution rights issues.
• Perform additional responsibilities as requested.
Requirements:
• JD degree
• Admission to the California State Bar preferred
• Excellent negotiating, drafting and analytical skills
• Prior experience in entertainment industry, and prior experience with intellectual property and transactional entertainment deals, strongly preferred
• Highly detail oriented and organized with exceptional ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Professional individual who can build strong relationships, both internally and externally, and is able to comfortably interact with all levels of employees
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong computer skills
