Description
The Crowd TD is responsible for creating photorealistic crowds using using Golaem, in Maya. He or she should have an advanced knowledge of crowd simulation and layout, as well as a good understanding of how to manage large data sets and complex renders. He or she must be detail oriented, as creating and maintaining the crowd system is complex and requires all components to work in harmony to create a complete crowd render. It is not a position well-suited to someone who considers themselves only an ''artist'' but is more suitable to someone who considers themselves a ''technician'' or ''craftsperson''.
Responsibilities
• Use Method's Maya/Golaem crowd system, to design, create, and implement show specific crowd layouts, QC and supply to lighting, in a timely manner
• Have an advanced ability to organize and maintain data, as crowd shots are often complex
• Must work within the Method pipeline to publish assets, tools and scripts as prescribed
• Must manage his/her disk space to fit within quota
• Must follow the creative direction of the production communicated by his/her supervisors
• Ability to work in a team environment under tight deadlines
• Ability to solve technical problems, and/or communicate effectively to the crowd department
Qualifications
• Minimum two years' experience as a TD
• Strong knowledge of Maya
• Knowledge of Golaem, or another crowd software (Massive, Houdini, etc)
• Good artistic skills
• Demonstrable ability to communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas
• Able to take directions and adaptable to change
• Good at improvising and problem-solving
• Knowledge of motion editing software, Motionbuilder, an asset
• Experience in motion capture, an asset
• Linux and Windows experience, preferred
• Tool building and scripting knowledge (Python, hscript, mel, bash), an asset
• Knowledge of Nuke, an asset
