Merge Records is an independent record label founded in 1989 and based in Durham, North Carolina. Our roster consists of over 130 artists from all over the world whose music we release, promote, and distribute internationally.
We have a full-time opening for a Staff Accountant who will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer at our office in Durham, NC. The starting salary for this position is $35,000 with full benefits and ample paid time off.
REQUIREMENTS
Quick learner with the ability to work at a fast pace
Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Familiarity with G Suite Apps
Strong attention to detail and organization
Excellent communication skills (listening, verbal, and written)
Strong problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Ability to multi-task and respond to direction
Team player
PREFERRED SKILLS
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration
Familiarity with QuickBooks
Two years of bookkeeping experience
Interest in music industry accounting
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Record all bills and outgoing payments and prepare weekly check run
Record all company credit card charges and perform reconciliations
Initiate ACHs and wires for management approval as needed
Collect W-9s as needed and assist CFO with 1099s at year-end
Record all incoming receipts
Take check deposits to the bank weekly
Reconcile webstore sales receipts daily
Monitor A/R aging and issue monthly statements to customers
Monitor petty cash and other cash accounts
Record inventory builds and adjustments
Perform reconciliations on all balance sheet accounts
Manage digital sales and licensing income
Manage accounting digital metadata database
Record a variety of monthly, quarterly, and annual journal entries
Prepare quarterly sales and use tax reports and payments
Assist CFO with annual tax preparation
Assist CFO in preparing bi-annual profit-sharing statements
Assist CFO in tracking and paying quarterly mechanical royalties
Keep records of all accounting organized and filed
Act as office liaison for phone systems and copier
Complete other tasks as assigned by CFO
