Forecasting & Planning Coordinator - Direct Market
Job Summary:
The Forecasting & Planning Coordinator, Direct Market is a support role within the Publishing Strategic Planning group. This position will work closely with senior management to maintain Marvel's Comic Market forecasts. Some of the role's key aspects include; compiling sales reports from print distribution partners, identifying sales and COGS trends, and maintaining P&Ls for all of Marvel's published series. The ideal candidate will be able to work and communicate across multiple departments, including Publishing Sales, Operations, Finance, and Accounting.
Responsibilities:
• Forecast and maintain annual print (direct market) publishing sales budget
• Compile daily sales reports from print distribution partner, Diamond Comics
• Administer weekly sales meetings with senior management to review internal and industry-wide sales trends
• Manage title-level P&Ls for all published series
• conduct month-end analysis on overall product performance by sales channels
• Work with Operations team to analyze and forecast major cost drivers
• Quantify impact from changes in material costs – Print, Paper, and Binding
• Complete ad-hoc tasks and analysis requested by Publishing Management, Operations, and Editorial
• Support ongoing expansion of Marvel publishing across convention sales and other DTC businesses
• Assist in annual publishing planning process and 5 years planning
Basic Qualifications:
• A strong knowledge/passion for comics publishing is preferred but not required
• 1-2 years' experience in a sales and planning role
• Strong analytical and financial modeling skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with Tableau a plus
Required Education
Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Finance, Sales and/or Marketing
