Job Summary:
Marvel's digital group is seeking a Digital Design Lead who is passionate about user experience and visual design, experienced in managing and mentoring creative teams, and motivated to elevate the Marvel brand through smart and compelling design solutions. As an experienced professional, you will lead our visual design/UX team as well as contribute hands-on personally. You will envision, design and execute innovative, intuitive experiences across Marvel's digital businesses, websites, apps and products. You will collaborate with stakeholders throughout the company to help shape and define our visual and UX identity in the digital space and in the process, wow Marvel fans with experiences that live up to our world-premiere brand.
The Design Lead should be a motivated self-starter with a dedication to clean design that keeps pushing forward. You must have strong communication skills and an excellent attention to detail. Please note: this is a full-time, ON-SITE position.
Responsibilities:
• Work closely with product managers, project managers, editorial, social managers, business leads, marketing and other stakeholders to understand business goals and translate them into jaw-dropping experiences
• Partner with business intelligence and product mangers to deeply understand audience's needs and ensure experiences are easy to use and constantly improved upon
• Produce presentations, prototypes and mocks necessary to guide the development of beautiful, original, and creative experiences from concept to implementation
• Create visual designs that address business, brand, market and user requirements, including the design and production of site layouts, marketing elements, content treatment and user interface elements
• Continually provide insight into industry best practices, design trends and content generation ideas
• Manage and mentor a team of designers while continually improving processes
• Foster and contribute to collaboration in cross-functional teams and with stakeholders
• Clearly communicate with all levels of professionals across the organization
• From senior stakeholder presentations to pumping out production graphics – personally pitch in to get done what's needed
Basic Qualifications:
• 5-7 years of experience
• Good strategic, conceptual skills and a solid knowledge of the digital landscape
• Self-starter - ability to work independently as well as in cross-functional groups
• Fluent in a range of design areas: visual, UX/interaction design, responsive
• Strong eye for layout, design and typography
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Strong project/time management and multitasking abilities
• 1-2 years leading a creative team
• Strong portfolio showing previous visual and interaction design work
• UX/UI skills and strong understanding of usability principles, information architecture and best practices
• Experience creating wireframes, sketches, UI and final visual design for desktop, mobile and tablet (and all production methods associated with each)
• Expert knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch, Invision, Microsoft Office
• In-depth understanding of the design opportunities and constraints of HTML, CSS, Javascript
• Experience working in a fast-paced, hard-working culture is a plus
Required Education
• BA/BFA in Graphic Design, Digital Media, and/or Human-Computer Interaction
Preferred Education
• Motion Graphics ability a plus
• Staying up to date with the evolving technology and design landscape, including the emergence of new standards and devices
• Experience creating design systems for projects that use code frameworks (for example, NodeJS, ReactJS)
