Job Description:
To assist in shaping the brand, image and overall awareness of the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association through the development and execution of the organization's overall communications strategy, with emphasis on social media, baseball information and media tracking.
Essential Functions:
• Manage and create original content for social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
• Work to ensure the timely distribution of key organizational information, publications, including baseball-related press releases
• Write website copy and social media content
• Assist in developing social media plans for more than 200 events and fundraisers per year
• Organize database of historical photos to ensure tracking of images
• Assist in the training and scheduling of department intern
• Ability to adjust as role and business needs evolve
• Special projects as assigned
Requirements:
• College degree, preferably with major in Communications, Journalism or Public Relations
• Baseball knowledge and strong understanding of the game
• 1-2 years of Public Relations/social media experience
• Highly motivated individual to meet the challenges presented in a fast-paced Public Relations department
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, interpersonal skills and computer skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
• Experience utilizing social media outlets for business organizations
• Knowledge of AP Style and experience with Cision, Photoshop, Shopify and social media scheduling platforms preferred
• Attention to detail is a must
• Ability to travel if necessary (20% maximum)
