Director, Non-Fiction Development (PH)
Job Summary:
The Director, Non-Fiction Development will be responsible for partnering with the VP, Animation & Live Action Series Development to oversee the development, execution, and production of all unscripted series content. The ideal candidate has extensive experience as a seller (producer) or buyer/commissioner (network) of both in development and current programming, along with a deep knowledge of the creative and business issues intrinsic in bringing programs from idea to launch.
Responsibilities:
• Develops new concepts and organizes portfolio of unscripted content, aligned with companywide storytelling strategy and transmedia efforts.
• Oversees the staffing of showrunners, directors, field producers and editors, seeing projects through from idea to delivery.
• Participates in creative meetings involving executives, and key creative leadership teams related to all Lucasfilm storytelling.
• Attend pitches and, where applicable, reviews material to have informed and productive creative meetings.
• Oversee development of concepts as well as business matters (such as deals with key parties).
• Manage relationships with talent and key partners, including key relationships across the Lucasfilm Video Production, Publicity, Digital, Events, and Assets teams
• Attends creative meetings, recording sessions and other production related sessions (both domestically and internationally), as necessary.
• Acts as a point of contact for agents and managers, and develops strong relationships with talent representatives.
• Fosters and maintains strong relationships with established and emerging creative talent, especially filmmakers in the Documentary space.
Preferred Qualifications:
• 7-10 years as an executive in a proven production company or network with previous development and/or Current Programming experience in the various genres of Unscripted Television (documentary, competition, talk, etc.)
• Bachelor's Degree, preferred.
• Actual producing experience is a plus but not required.
• Must be able to travel both domestically and internationally for on-location preproduction, production, and post-production work.
• Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of management and with diverse personalities and work styles.
• Exercise excellent creative and business judgement, especially in spotting the potential in ideas.
• Strong writing and excellent communication skills are essential.
• Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to establish priorities and multi-task efficiently, and work effectively under strict time constraints and meet deadlines.
• Demonstrable flexibility, professionalism, and finesse when handling the multiple and diverse demands of a creative environment.
• Effective collaborator with creative contributors.
