2nd Assistant Editor (PROJECT)
Job Summary:
Do you have a background in film or television production? Are you interested in gaining valuable experience as part of an exciting, fast-moving production team?
The 2nd Assistant Editor will assist with the editorial workload from pre-production through post production, supporting the Editorial team on an Animated Series Production. Reporting to the Senior Post Production Manager and working closely with Lead Editors, the Associate Editor, Coordinator and Post Production Manager, you will play a vital role in bringing this content to life.
Responsibilities:
Well-organized, Detail-oriented, and Tech Savvy are key words for the 2nd Assistant Editor. On any given day, you might:
• Import and prep dialogue recordings for editors.
• Maintain the in-house editorial database tracking cut lengths according to show status.
• Output movie files specified by production for various use. For example OAP, ADR, events.
• Transcode for Dialogue Records, vendors or client delivery.
• Sync sound for actor ADR for animation.
• Assist Editors with temp sound.
• Turn over milestone edits to various departments.
• Import story, animation and lighting. Troubleshoot I/O issues.
• Support post localization requests.
• Back-up recording temp dialogue when required.
• Maintain show project within Avid.
• Provide general editorial show support.
Basic Qualifications:
Skills and experience you need to be successful in this role:
• Bachelor's Degree in Film or related field desired, or equivalent experience.
• 3 years' experience in a Production Assistant, Editorial Assistant role, or similar experience with film production including post-production is required; Experience as an Assistant Editor is preferred.
• Production or post-production media acquisitions experience (e.g., timecode, logging, capturing)
• Strong ability to multi-task and meet deadlines while working under tight schedules.
• Strong team player with good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Good working knowledge of all editorial pipeline and EDL tools (digital tools).
• Knowledgeable with Avid Media/Film Composer, Final Cut or Adobe Premier.
• Proficient typist. This role requires a significant amount of time working on a computer.
• After Effects, PhotoShop, Filemaker Pro, Shotgun or database experience a plus.
