Internship Summary
This internship program is a hands-on opportunity for students to build their work experience and learn the behind-the-scenes operations of a WNBA team, the Los Angeles Sparks. The LA Sparks are seeking individuals that have a knowledge and experience in the sport of basketball. LA Sparks youth basketball trainer interns will be responsible for the support, instruction and implementation of various skills and drills during youth basketball clinics and camps. LA Sparks youth basketball trainers should be passionate about youth development, passionate about the process, possess a strong work ethic, and be able to work well with others while positively representing the LA Sparks as ambassadors of the brand. The LA Sparks are looking to create two separate training teams. One staff will work primarily in Los Angeles County and Ventura County while the second team will cover Orange County and San Bernardino County.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist the LA Sparks youth basketball clinic directors and trainers to execute a second to none LA Sparks experience.
• Assist with the implementation and instruction of the LA Sparks youth basketball's mission, philosophy, skills and drills.
• Help teach youth basketball participants the fundamentals and essential skills at various basketball court locations throughout Southern California. Youth basketball trainers will participate in a shoot around and stretching period as well as run a basketball station featuring an essential fundamental of basketball.

/Qualifications
• Commitment of 6-10 hours per week intermittently from March 2019– September 2019
• Passionate about the LA Sparks and women's basketball.
• Previous experience working with elementary, middle and high school aged students (camp counselor, coaching, teaching, etc.).
• Responsible with the ability to connect with elementary, middle school and high school aged participants.
• Ability to multi-task and problem solve in a fast-paced work environment.
• Detail oriented and results driven.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Excellent public speaking skills.
• Minimum of high school level basketball playing experienced required.
• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Process a valid California driver's license, automobile liability insurance and a good driving record.
• Flexible schedule – Must be able to work nights/weekends and some holiday's.
• Requires prolonged standing and physical activity; ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds.
• Must be able to work in some outside conditions.
• Willingness to learn and should be able to flourish in a dynamic and diverse environment.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
