Part Time Unpaid Internship
Reporting to: Director of Public Relations and Coordinator of Public Relations
Salary: Non-paid, college credit offered
Job Purpose: This internship program is a hands-on opportunity for students to build their work experience and learn the behind-the-scenes operations of a WNBA team. As the PR & Communications Intern you will participate in a series of events and activities exposing you to all departments as well as the many facets of working for a professional sports team. You will assist the communications department with all initiatives and opportunities as it relates to media relations, public relations, community outreach, player appearances, and engagement and external communications.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Attendance at ALL Sparks season home games required, including WNBA Playoff home games, and assist with game-day media relations and team operations
• Mandatory one day in the office to assist with pre-game day operations such as arranging and delivering visiting team packets
• You will help with the writing and updating of Sparks postgame quotes, notes, media guides and other PR materials
• Assist with planning, implementation and staffing of Sparks media, special and charitable events and game days, including, but not limited to: press conferences, interviews, market research, event recap
• Coordinate and run credentialing for Sparks games
• Maintain and handle a detailed media list: local, national, entertainment, business and sports
• Handle media clips and generate media value reports
• Assist with the coordination of media for community events to increase the Sparks exposure in the Los Angeles and surrounding communities
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
• Working to achieve Bachelors or Masters degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Sports Management or related fields
• Internships with college sports information department a plus
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills; passion for basketball and WNBA is strongly preferred
• Strong computer skills including proficiency with InDesign (REQUIRED)
• Quick learner who is able to adapt and excel in various environments
• Ambitious, positive, reliable and high-energy
• Ability to multi-task, work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment; are detail oriented and organized
• Reliable transportation; use of personal vehicle to and from games and ability to work weekends, nights and holidays
