Summary
The Director, will lead all aspects of Community Relations and Youth Sports. You will have day-to-day responsibility for owning the team's community partner relationships. You will lead the Community Relations team to develop cross-disciplinary programs, initiatives and campaigns that contribute to the community outreach goals of the team, WNBA, and corporate and civic partners.
Key responsibilities:
• Lead the development and coordination of the Community Relations and Youth Sports programs under the four pillars (Women & Girls, Youth Sports Health & Wellness and Military)
• Build, coordinate and run the department budget
• Develop a comprehensive strategy and business plan for your department
• Develop and maintain effective, dedicated relationships with community organizations to meet philanthropic goals, as well as position the team as a strong community partner
• Collaborate with all Sparks departments to help elevate community awareness through other outlets
• Develop in-game seasonal community activation programming
• Collaborate with Partnership to implement cause related marketing efforts for corporate partners
• Develop metrics and other measures to evaluate efficiency of community-based initiatives
• Join community boards or programs connected to the four pillars
• Represent organization at events at team signings, practices and appearances when necessary
• Develop relationships with key community leaders to enrich and develop community programs
• Lead, develop and implement the LA Sparks Youth Basketball Program
• Ensure programs and camps are conducted in compliance with significant legislation, policies and procedures
• Recruit, hire, lead, evaluate and mentor Community Relations staff and coaches and interns
• Lead player community programs that related to their passions and the four pillars
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree
• 5 years of prior full-time work experience in non-profit, business, entertainment and/or sports sectors
• Ability to develop positive relationships internally and operate in a manner that reflects a collaborative-based culture
• Strong organizational skills and creativity
• Positive relationship building skills and ability to thrive within a rapidly changing environment
• Experience developing and implementing community-focused initiatives
• Ability to communicate articulately and authoritatively both verbally and in writing with individuals at every level of the organization
• Must be able to work non-traditional hours, including nights and weekends
