Full Time Job
Job Title: Payroll Administrator
Department: Finance & Accounting
Reports to: Associate Manager, Payroll
Position Summary: The Payroll Administrator is responsible for supporting the Associate Manager, Payroll in the accurate and timely payroll processing for the Lakers and affiliated entities.
Key metrics used to evaluate performance:
• All employee information entered and filed timely and accurately
• Accuracy and reliability of information provided in work products
• Level of detail used when completing responsibilities
• Use of the computer as it pertains to his/her job duties
• Performing duties independently without heavy supervision
• Use of analytical and problem-solving skills
• Initiative taken to spearhead projects to improve the department
Essential Functions (Duties & Responsibilities**):
Payroll (Semi-monthly)
• Provide training to new hires regarding use of payroll system including entry of time worked, and access to tax information
• Process employee payroll changes (direct deposit, W4s, 401K, garnishments)
• Coordinate with other departments to gather all payroll related items for the pay period
• Maintain timecards, ensure all time sheets are completed and accurate, assist with editing
• Ensure proper processing of timecards, payroll deductions for taxes, benefits and other deductions
• Preview payroll reports to verify all amounts of regular pay, overtime, commission, etc.
• (Once payroll is completed) Print out statistical summary for Accounting & Financial Reporting and any checks processed from ADP
• Create payroll reports/ check registers with notes about any changes (commission, bonus, retro, manual check)
• Give to Associate Manager, Payroll and CFO for final approval
• Issues, or reissues, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final termination
• Address payroll related queries and requests from employees and managers
• Ensure all documentation associated with payroll is maintained properly and confidential
• Prepare all ADP information for ACA reporting
• Assist with running reports in ADP
• Perform special projects and proactively seeks to improve department processes
**Responsibilities subject to change based on organizational needs and direction from management.
Education
/ Certification:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (required)
Previous experience:
• A minimum of two (2) years' experience working with payroll systems
• Some accounting experience preferred including a basic understanding of journal entries and payroll accounting
Technology:
• Experience with HRIS software such as ADP
• Advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Office (emphasis on Excel)
Knowledge, skills, abilities:
• Familiarity with federal and state labor law regulations, minimum wage, etc.
• Analytical – ability to calculate various payroll withholdings such as statutory taxes, 401K, etc.
• Presents self in professional manner and has the demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of organization and outside contacts
• Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
• Ability to work in fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills including written and verbal; ability to present ideas clearly and concisely
• Strong organizational skills
• Excels at multi-tasking, planning and organizing, can prioritize work activities; uses time efficiently
• Detail Oriented
• Adaptability – adapts to change in the work environment, manages competing demands and is able to handle frequent changes
• Dependability – consistently at work on time, follows instructions, responds to manager's instruction
Location: El Segundo (offices M-F), and other occasional off-site events, as needed
