Full Time Job
The Community Relations Coordinator will work on a wide range of the Dodgers community affairs outreach efforts and activities. This includes managing the teams’ health initiatives, education initiatives, in-kind donations and help coordinate the club’s sponsored community activations and events.
Job Functions:
• Oversee the ‘health’ community affairs pillar which focuses on outreach and program activities in health education and awareness
• Manage the Dodger Blue Wish program, designed to inspire and create an unforgettable experience for Dodger fans facing a serious health condition, illness, or major milestone
• Manage player hospital visits and activations
• Oversee and manage the teams’ educational programs and relationships including:
• collaborations with LAUSD, other local School Districts and educational non-profits
• Back to School initiatives and activations
• Step Up to the Plate Attendance Program
• Manage and coordinate the teams’ literacy program “LA Reads” which includes the annual program launch, monthly winner recognitions and monthly digital literacy activations
• Manage MLB Educational Youth Programming
• Manage Shred Hate/No Bully Programming
• Manage Summer Slugger Program
• Manage Breaking Barriers Essay Contest
• Coordinate and manage the teams’ sponsored holiday programs including the annual turkey give-a-way and children’s holiday party
• Collaborate with the Dodgers Public Relations department to identify appropriate opportunities to promote community and charitable efforts
• Assist with pre-game and game day on-field activities including batting practice visits, meet & greet visits, auction experiences, and player support as needed
• Manage individual program budgets & expenses
• Identify and develop women/girls in sports community initiatives
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Perform other related duties as assigned
Basic Requirements/Qualifications:
• Bilingual English/Spanish verbal and written proficient preferred
• Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, prioritize, and maintain flexibility when working on multiple projects with conflicting deadlines
• Goal oriented, self-starter with strong ethic and ability to manage multiple projects in a face paced environment
• Possess excellent communication, organizational and outgoing interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in tandem with internal and external customers (residents, civic and business leaders, volunteers) with a positive customer service attitude
• Able to work independently, creatively, with initiative and accurately within specific deadlines
