Part Time Job
The Jr. Clippers program has grown to over 100,000 participants since its start at Normandie Recreation Center 18 years ago - making it one of the largest youth programs in the NBA. Through the program we hope to inspire and encourage children to stay active and experience the thrill of basketball and the LA Clippers.
We are looking for Youth Basketball Coaches who have a passion for the sport of basketball and are committed to being part of the continued growth of the Jr. Clippers program and other youth basketball programs. Coaches will be responsible for support, instruction and implementation of our year round camps and clinics. To excel in this role, you should be enthusiastic, have a strong work ethic, and work well with others while positively representing the LA Clippers as ambassadors of the team.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
• Teach youth basketball players fundamentals and essential skills for an entire week at various gym locations throughout Southern California. Youth Basketball Coaches will be asked to participate in a shoot around, stretching and various stations throughout the day.
• Build relationships with participants and their parents at each camp/clinic.
Characteristics / Qualifications
• Passionate about the LA Clippers and the sport of basketball.
• Self-motivated and highly organized
• Proven ability to multi-task and problem-solve in a dynamic work environment.
• Hard-working, detail oriented and results driven.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to be a team player and enjoy working in a team environment.
• Excellent public speaking and interpersonal skills.
• Previous experience working with elementary and middle-school aged students preferred (Camp counselor, coaching, teaching, etc.).
• Minimum of high school level basketball playing experience required.
• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Possess a valid California driver's license, automobile liability insurance and a good driving record.
• Requires prolonged standing; ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds.
• Must be able to work in outdoor conditions.
• Demonstrated dedication with the ability to oversee projects from origin through execution.
• Willingness to learn and should be able to flourish in a high growth, dynamic environment.
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
• Self-starter and entrepreneurial spirit with hands-on approach towards business.
