Summary
The LA Clippers are looking for a Chief Financial Officer who will work with the President, ownership and senior management team to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies. You will lead the finance and accounting units and will be responsible for leading the team financial information and monthly reporting processes including: accounting and controls, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, internal and external audit, treasury, pricing, tax, credit, billings, collections, financial analysis and information technology. You will also be charged with providing analytical support related to overall team operations and for ensuring compliance with all NBA, debt- and audit-related financial requirements.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
*Provides day to day leadership to all areas of the finance function, ensuring that management and ownership teams have comprehensive, transparent and accurate views of the financial state of the business.
*Manage and drive processes relating to the team's annual operating budget, projections, cash flow analysis and financing ventures.
*Establish a strong relationship and the confidence of the President, Leadership Team and ownership based on strong financial acumen and knowledge of the business, strategy, plans and performance.
*Perform rigorous financial analyses, risk assessments, ''what if?'' scenario modeling and due diligence related to key issues. Serve as an advisor from the financial perspective on any contracts into which the organization may enter.
*Analyze and report on return and value for all business initiatives, providing the President and ownership with business tracking and variance reporting, as well as recommendations to modify business plans.
*Develop and implement the capital strategies including determining both short-term and long-term capital needs for improvements and other purposes; provide benchmarking analyses to determine improvement areas delivering strongest industry returns and to better inform decision-making.
*Manage the relationship with the National Basketball Association related to all finance-related issues.
*Lead day-to-day administration and control of the accounting, treasury, etc. functions to safeguard the assets and to ensure financial transactions are processed accurately, timely, and are recorded in keeping with accepted accounting standards and principles.
*Lead the Information Technology team and risk management activities.

Communication Skills: Speak clearly and persuasively; respond well to questions; strong group presentation skills; write clearly and informatively; present numerical data effectively; able to read, interpret and critically analyze written and quantitative information.
Leadership in an Entrepreneurial, Fast-Paced Environment: Demonstrated experience working successfully within a highly collaborative company. This person will serve as a change agent within the company in developing enhanced processes and systems to serve the business. Should be influential in using technology to support these processes and should be able to build a team that can support the business both today and in the future. Importantly, this person should by nature be detail-oriented and passionate about precision, by having hands-on orientation and the ability to directly address areas that need attention and by developing solutions that improve operations on a sustainable basis.
Management Skills: Able to plan, communicate and monitor all work assignments properly matching responsibility to appropriate person; set challenging and realistic expectations and monitor delegated activities; make self-available to staff; ensure programs are in place for regular performance feedback; coach, mentor and develop employees; etc.
Characteristics
/Qualifications
*Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
*Master's degree and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
*10 years of senior financial leadership experience.
*Experience as a senior level finance professional sports team or other live entertainment organization is not required. Experience outside these industries will be considered; experience working in sectors adjacent to sports and entertainment, such as hospitality, media and gaming would be a plus.
*A diversity of experience across a broad range of functional finance areas including: financial planning and analysis, accounting and controls, budgeting, treasury and tax is important.
