Job Scope:
The Los Angeles Machine Room Manager heads up the deliverables department at Light Iron. They are responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the machine room and network operations center. This includes work order oversight and distribution, prioritization of machine room equipment and talent, scheduling of machine room equipment and talent, troubleshooting of workflow or technology issues, and direct supervision of machine room staff.
The ideal candidate is a good leader who has technical knowledge of the post production world. Problem solving, attention to detail, and organization are a must.
Key Responsibilities:
• Understanding of and ability to ingest and create file + tape-based deliverables, including:
• DPX files
• Open EXR files -
• Legacy and emerging IMF elements
• DCDM/DCP/KDM management -
• ProRes formats?
• DNxHD formats?
• HD and SD tape elements/ operation
Skills/Experience Required:
• 3-5+ years' experience in technical post production leadership
• Experience and knowledge with the following:
• DVS Clipster
• Colorfront Transkoder
• Professional VTR decks (e.g., SRW5500, AJ-HD3700B) -
• Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve -
• Avid Media Composer -
• Adobe After Effects -
• Apple Final Cut Pro -
• Quantel Pablo -
• Colorfront Express Dailies
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
This job operates in a professional office environment. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and reach with hands and arms. The employee may also be required to lift product or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Prompt and regular attendance is required, employees are expected to begin work at the start of their scheduled shift and to complete their assigned work shift according to the responsibilities of their position.
This position works standard business hours, but may require long hours and some weekend work.
