Position Title: Manager, Participations & Residuals
Location: Burbank, CA
Reporting To: Chief Accounting Officer
Summary
Legendary is looking for a Manager, Participations & Residuals to join the team. This role is responsible for ensuring all contractual obligations are met for contingent compensation for Legendary titles. This position will prepare and deliver participation statements to all its third-party participants for both Television and Features. The Manager will ensure that all statements are prepared accurately and on a timely basis. In addition, this role will be responsible for processing residual payments and participate in various system implementation and upgrade projects.
Responsibilities
• Prepare, review and manage participation statements and process.
• Interpret talent deals ensuring accurate calculation of statements.
• Facilitate payments made to third-party participants.
• Review all Participations ultimates, accruals and recoupments and provide commentary where needed.
• Forecast, set-up, pay and report residual liabilities.
• Work with Production Finance to gather required information for residual setup.
• Work with third party payment processor to provide relevant setup data and ensure complete and accurate setup for residual payments.
• Analyze and interpret production and distribution contracts for residual liabilities.
• Provide analysis to determine residuals impact in various scenarios.
• Collecting documentation for guild audits and internal audits.
• Manage and prioritize workflows to meet, or exceed, department deadlines, productivity and quality expectations, and to ensure all inquiries receive responses within established timeframes.
• Ensures compliance with SOX requirements and internal/external auditor requests.
• Perform quarterly close related activities as required.
• Project payments to facilitate FP&A processes.
• Manage accounting inbound participation statements and receipts.
• Special projects as required.
Experience & Skills
• Five (5) years or more experience in participations, residuals and entertainment accounting and audit experience a plus
• BA/BS degree in Accounting, Economics or related field required, advanced degree a plus
• Strong overall understanding of Participations, including the ability to read and understand complex legal agreements. Must have a thorough knowledge of film and television deal structure and contracts
• Knowledge of guild agreements as they relate to residuals including SAG-AFTRA, WGA, WGC, DGA, DGC, UPCP/ACTRA
• Working knowledge of Film/TV program accounting life cycle including Ultimates and contingent compensation payable to Talent Guilds and/or Profit Participants
• Experience with ERP system and ideally familiar with system(s) used to generate Participation statements and/or Talent Guild Payments
• Track record with finding innovative solutions to complex business problems and leveraging technology to find best practice and drive continuous improvement

• Strong positive/can-do attitude and comfortable interacting with all levels of the organization
