Position Title: Assistant, Business & Legal Affairs
Location: Burbank, CA
Reporting to: EVP, Business & Legal Affairs
Summary
Legendary is looking for an Assistant to join the Film Business and Legal Affairs team. This role is responsible for providing support to the EVP and SVP in addition to the Film Business and Legal Affairs team. The position will be focused on production legal matters including for development, production, and post-production, and will support day-to-day functions while interfacing and collaborating with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. A high degree of confidentiality and discretion is required in this position.
Responsibilities
• Handle daily administrative tasks including answering phones and relaying messages, updating call logs, scheduling meetings, photocopying, scanning, ordering office supplies. Maintain and manage calendars, emails, and contacts for department executives.
• Create, format, redline, and revise correspondence and other written materials such as agreements, letters, memos, and other legal documents.
• Draft and review production legal-related documents and agreements (e.g., writer agreements, various other talent agreements, certificates of authorship/engagement, and more).
• Track and prepare reports for various agreements and deals in negotiation.
• Track the status of documents within the department and assist with drafting various reports (i.e., Drafting Queue, Title Registration Status Report, WGA Writer Worklists).
• Work closely with Contract Administration and Accounting to prepare/process payments and upload and organize contracts within our digital and physical file systems.
• Collaborate with internal teams and production personnel.
• Support special projects as needed.
Experience & Skills
• BA/BS degree required; Juris Doctor degree preferred
• At least 1-2 years of prior experience supporting a legal department in the entertainment industry, preferably in Production Business and/or Legal Affairs, but not required
• Proven experience in drafting and redlining
• General knowledge of how Films are produced, common customs and practices in this industry
• Ability to understand and abstract various agreements and disseminate information effectively
• Highly motivated, eager to learn, team player, responsible, detail-oriented, and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-pressure, high-volume environment
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Must be highly organized, resourceful, and pro-active
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
