A New York-based production company is looking for an experienced Paralegal or Business & Legal Affairs Coordinator for its Business & Legal Affairs department. This role will assist the Senior Vice President and Counsel with day-to-day production legal, legal processes, rights & clearances, and administrative functions.
The scope of work will include:
Managing a high volume of administrative, research and legal duties.
Assisting with production legal on projects in development and in active production.
Coordinating and tracking the status of projects, agreements, and status reports as well as other contract management responsibilities.
Organizing and maintaining all legal files.
Setting up new projects (templates, processes, insurance, etc.).
Drafting form agreements and legal correspondence.
Acting as a liaison between production teams and Rights & Clearances regarding releases and various production agreements.
Communicating regularly with outside legal counsel as well as internal and external executives.
Assisting with special projects and other duties as required.
This position requires an extremely capable individual who enjoys working in a fast paced environment, is self-motivated, detail-oriented and possesses strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills. Applicants should also possess the following:
A minimum of 3 years of experience working at a law firm or in-house, preferably in the entertainment industry.
Strong initiative to take on tasks and to set priorities and deadlines, with a demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment.
Excellent negotiation, drafting and analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
Excellent people skills and ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external partners.
Ability to successfully coordinate multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to communicate effectively.
