Job Title: Comedy Booker
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Job Type: Full-time
Salary Base: $1,200/week
Join our team at one of Hollywood's most legendary venues: the World Famous Laugh Factory! We are looking for an organized comedy booker to administer booking and coordinate comedians for live events, including nightly comedy shows, special events, festivals, tours, and other comedic performances. This position will curate and secure comedic act bookings at multiple venues.
The Comedy Booker works closely with the company's Founder, Executive Director & COO, Director of Business Development, administrative staff, talent agents, event planners, and external companies to ensure that events featuring comedic talent run smoothly and that audiences experience top-notch performances and entertainment.
The Comedy Booker should have exemplary communication and organization skills, a keen eye for comedic talent, and the capacity to negotiate contracts and fees with performers effectively and timely. Additionally, the following criterion applies to this position:
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, coordinate, and book comedians for live events.
- Negotiate fees and execute contracts with comedians, agents, and managers.
- Work with company leadership and staff, or event planners and partners to ensure that the events run smoothly and the audience is experiences high-level comedic performances.
- Schedule venue programming in advance under specified guidelines.
- Coordinate logistics such as travel, accommodations, and scheduling for performers.
- Keep up-to-date with trends and talent in the comedy industry through various means.
- Control and update company's active roster of talent contacts and data.
- Gather talent marketing and promotional materials for use in social media, advertising, and other channels
- Distribute marketing materials to talent for their promotional use
- Assemble and organize talent availability and booking schedules.
- Coordinate or initiate sales activations, independently or coordinatedly, for publicizing events and line-ups on online platforms.
- Analyze and leverage attendance data to inform ongoing and future programming.
- Apply information from feedback and data to inform actions and work toward continuous improvement.
- Maintain positive relationships with performers, agents, and venue managers.
- Assist with casting calls or requests.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field is preferred, or a combined experience/education as a substitute for the minimum education requirement.
- 3+ years of experience as a full-time booker for comedy club(s) or live events
- Proven ability to communicate and negotiate effectively
- Candidates must demonstrate their ability to enter into and fulfill contracts.
- Proven ability to work with talent agencies and with high-profile talent is required.
- Previous experience in talent management or event planning is preferred.
- Experience in casting for live events is preferred.
- Willingness to work long hours and on weekends and holidays

Working Conditions:
The Comedy Booker works primarily in an office setting but may also attend events and travel to meet with performers and venue managers. The position may involve long hours, including evenings and weekends, and requires working well under pressure. The Comedy Booker works independently and as part of work groups.

Salary: The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications, or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
