Job Description
This is a newly created position at Latino Public Broadcasting (LPB). We are looking for a team player who can apply their skills to our well-tuned process and join us in making it even more effective and creative. Working with the Executive and the Managing Director, the Program Manager supports all aspects of project funding and filmmaker relations--including managing production contracts and detail-oriented deliverables. They must be equally comfortable with communicating 1:1 with independent filmmakers and digital content creators as they are with television/streaming executives and lawyers. The Program Manager will attend a range of film festivals and professional gatherings to represent LPB. Therefore, exceptional communications skills and a deep understanding of our mission to amplify Latinx voices and stories - are key. Finally, a sense of humor goes a long way too! Please note: this job does NOT include production and is ideally suited for someone who wants to elevate the creativity and perspectives behind the scenes of the community of Latinx independent filmmakers and digital content creators we serve.
Specific Duties (partial list)
Internal
- Participate in our panel of peers who review production and digital content applications and weigh in on project selection
- Draft customized contracts between LPB and independent filmmakers (broadcast and digital)
- Manage production of digital content including submissions and delivery to PBS
- Manage professional development masterclass for emerging makers
External
- Serve as a liaison with partnering organizations such as PBS.ORG, PBS Digital Studios, ITVS, Firelight Media, NMCA and others
- Help us reach out, build networks, and spot viable projects at screenings, film festivals, producer workshops and more
- Manage relationship at PBS Learning Media
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree (min); film, television, media or related field preferred
- 3 - 5 years' experience in project management, preferably in a media or philanthropic organization, or other creative non-profit
- High level organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team, independently and under pressure
- Excellent networking, verbal, and writing skills (verified writing sample required)
- Spanish a plus (not required)
- Expertise with Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Outlook and other pc-based software
Knowledge and Values
- Dedication to media that supports authentic voices by and for the Latinx community
- Passion for and familiarity with Latinx culture, challenges, and contributions
- Demonstrated success in working across sectors and communities
